English Curriculum Statement
Literacy plays a significant role in both education and in society as a whole. Individuals who possess proficient reading, writing and speaking skills have more opportunities both academically and professionally.
At Herrick Primary School, we believe that competence in reading, writing and speaking are vital in enabling pupils to access all areas of the curriculum.
Therefore, as a school we endeavour to ensure that our teaching of English enables pupils to learn to read fluently, write fluently and speak fluently.
Fluency in these areas will assist children’s development academically, emotionally and socially so that they are able to participate fully both at school and in the wider world.
