Computing Curriculum Statement
"We are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist, using technologies that haven’t been invented, in order to solve problems, we don’t know are problems yet." Richard Riley.
At Herrick Primary School, we see Computing as an integral part of our curriculum and essential in preparing children for an increasingly digital world. We use the Teach Computing curriculum to develop knowledge and skills across computer science, information technology and digital literacy.
Online safety is embedded throughout our Computing curriculum, supporting pupils to use technology safely, responsibly and confidently. Children learn through both digital and unplugged activities, developing problem-solving, logical thinking, creativity and resilience.
Our Digibooks capture and provide evidence of pupils’ learning, demonstrating progression across the school. As technology continues to evolve, including the growing use of artificial intelligence, we aim to equip our pupils with the skills, knowledge and confidence to become safe, responsible and adaptable digital citizens, prepared for life in the 21st century.
